There his shadow

A man approaches, grey and stern.
Can you hear him, steps discern
through wind and whispered longings?
There his shadow, there his breath,
there the echo of his death.
There, upon your doorstep.

Blind yet seeing, old yet strong,
can you hear the ravens’ song?
Odin walks among us.

Few dare look and see his face,
stand up tall and meet his gaze,
greet the guest of old.
Light the fires, pour the mead,
runes are cast and he will read,
that which no one knows.

Blind yet seeing, old yet strong,
can you hear the ravens’ song?
Odin walks among us.

Lord of the slain, father of all,
beloved protector, king of his hall,
Hidden but not hiding.
Spear wielder, loud one,
wand wielder, grim one,
Wisdom and might unyielding.

Blind yet seeing, old yet strong,
can you hear the ravens’ song?
Odin walks among us.
