Stand

My Gods do not ask me to kneel.

Though sometimes I wish that they would.

But They do not ask for submission.

They do not want me to kneel.

They tell me to straighten my back and stand,

Though I fear, though I hurt, though the world

lies like lead on my shoulders.

They want me to stand.
